The Nature of Creativity

by James Jarvis

The infinitely creative blossoming of nature signals us to tap into our own creative self-expression. What aspect of your creativity wants to blossom this month? Are you a closet painter, writer, dancer or musician? Have you been holding back from sharing your passions with others? Use this month to push yourself to make something new.

Venus in Aquarius sextile Pluto 4/1-3 supports you in discovering your passions. What issues engage you? What issues really “get your goat?” Answering these questions helps you tap into your core values.

Venus travels through the sign of Pisces from 4/5-5/3 helping you be more accepting of yourself. In other words, no matter what you have done, or have failed to do, you are beloved by the universe. Let the unconditional acceptance of Venus in Pisces permeate every cell of your being this month.

When Mars in Gemini opposes Pluto in Sagittarius 4/6-9, it’s time to take action. Since Mars is in the airy sign of Gemini, this is a great time to share your knowledge with others. Combining the raring-to-go energy of Mars with powerful Pluto provides plenty of rocket fuel to kick-start you into action. This transit is kind of like drinking a triple latté everyday without the crash!

The full Moon at 21 degrees Libra 4/13 (11:40 am) represents our need for cooperative, balanced and harmonious relationships. Examine your position on the continuum between independence and dependence. The moon in Libra calls you to balance your desire for intimacy with your need for autonomy.

With Mars in Cancer from 4/13-6/3 you can expect to feel a strong urge to get things done, albeit in altogether different ways. This is because Mars in Cancer wants to “go with the flow” and is not concerned with external motivations. One way to deal with this somewhat atypical energy is to find ways of physically grounding through movement like dance, yoga, martial arts or exercise. This will help you balance the emotional body and get a lot done at the same time.

Mercury in Aries 4/16-5/5 helps us take initiative and seize leadership in the arena of communication. What is it that you need to communicate to catalyze and empower others to act? What have you been putting off saying for fear of what others will think? Mercury in Aries emphasizes being the spiritual warrior in all areas of communication.

As the Sun shifts into Taurus on 4/20 (12:26 am) we are asked to define and solidify our core values. By clarifying what it is that you truly value, you create guideposts that support you in daily life. Without knowledge of our core values we are like ships without rudders—adrift at sea!

With Venus in Pisces trine Jupiter in Scorpio 4/19-21, there’s an opportunity for opening your heart and manifesting unconditional love for self and others. Take a look at your current ability to give and receive love. Remember that you are acceptable and loveable just as you are.

With the new moon at 7 degrees Taurus 4/27 (2:45 pm), what nurtures us is getting grounded. Digging in the garden can be very healing at this time. Tuning into earth energy through Native American or indigenous rituals will also serve to ground you.

For Sun, Moon and Rising Signs

Aries (March 21-April 20)
You’re on fire and on a mission to share your passions. Find a meaningful campaign where you can be out front communicating your message to the masses.

Taurus (April 21-May 21)
Immersing yourself in the natural realm is very healing for you this month. There’s nothing like being in nature to clear your mind and lift your spirits. So get out there!

Gemini (May 22-June 20)
Pay attention to those new ideas that you’re downloading from the ethers. You’ll find yourself receptive to ideas coming from the collective mind. Be sure to write them down!

Cancer (June 21- July 20)
Opportunities for community involvement will capture your attention this month. This will probably feel very nurturing to you. Make sure, though, that you know when to say no.

Leo (July 21- Aug 22)
Take some time to check in with the old “inner self” this month. You probably need a break to recoup and regroup. Maybe it’s time for that retreat you’ve been promising yourself.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sept. 22)
If you’ve wanted to have “that conversation” with your significant other, now’s the time. Your emotions and intellect are in sync, so your communication will be more effective.

Libra (Sept. 23- Oct. 22)
Your aesthetic talent and energy desire expression. Get quiet and listen for the art that wants to come through you. You have an opportunity to shepherd your vision into concrete form.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
There is a new spirit of optimism growing within you. You’re more open and emotionally available right now. It’s time to reveal more of yourself to others.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec 20)
Your mind is quite expansive now and capable of negotiating the larger challenges. You may find yourself the “go-to” person to develop new policies for fighting issues of social justice.

Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan 20)
Change is in the air and it might feel a little emotionally unsettling. The good news is that if you relax and don’t resist, you may find yourself at exactly the right place and time.

Aquarius (Jan. 21-Feb. 18)
You are often described as being “aloof,” but not this month! The conjunction of Venus and Neptune in Aquarius opens your desire to give and receive unconditional love.

Pisces (Feb 19-March 20)
Intuitive perception is enhanced this month with Mercury and Uranus in Pisces. The key to benefiting from this planetary alignment is practicing present-moment awareness. Be here now.
