Let’s Get Physical and Produce Results
by James Jarvis
With the Sun and Mercury in earthy Taurus this month, it’s time to produce tangible results. Examine your goals for the year and brainstorm activities that will bring you success. Once you know what they are, prioritize those activities and schedule them into your calendar. Breaking your goals into monthly, weekly and daily challenges renders even the most daunting objectives more do-able.
Take a look at how passion manifests in your life as Venus passes through the sign of Aries from 5/3-29. What are you enthusiastic about? What can you do to increase your sense of vitality and zeal for life? By tapping into your passion you tap into your dharma—that sense of mission or purpose that gives your life increased meaning and joy.
Use Mercury in Taurus 5/5-19 to help formulate your values and construct a plan for incorporating these values into your daily life. This is easier for the more cerebral among us; just make a prioritized list of things to do. For intuitive right-brainers, try brainstorming what you are passionate about. Make note of what you come up with and gradually build a road map to your chosen destination.
Mars in Cancer is in positive relationship with Jupiter 5/5-8, Uranus 5/6-9 and Neptune 5/6-8. Mars/Jupiter allows our will (Mars) to flow with our idealism (Jupiter). Mars/Uranus asks us to resolve any built-up tensions, whether on a physical, emotional or mental level. With Mars/Neptune you’ll learn to surrender your attachment to outcome, allowing you to gracefully flow with life rather than fight against it.
Communicating what you need to feel bonded emotionally and physically is paramount with the full Moon at 22 degrees Scorpio on 5/13 (1:52am). The challenge this month is to acknowledge your desire for connection even though you may feel vulnerable or fear rejection.
The Sun entering the sign of Gemini on 5/20 at 11:32pm highlights our need to connect objects, people and experiences with one another in order to deepen our understanding of our job on the planet. Our duty in the sign of Gemini is to experience a diversity of sensations, thoughts and encounters to develop our wisdom and share it with others.
Mercury traveling through the sign of Gemini 5/20-6/3 also brings a focus on communication and the dissemination of information. With Mercury in Gemini, our minds crave activity and engagement. This is a great month to write letters, make short trips, take a course that enlivens your mind or just get together with friends for lively and far-ranging conversations on world issues.
With Neptune retrograde from 5/22-10/28, our connection to spirit is revealed. Use this retrograde period to ground your spiritual practice. We are moving into a new era where the focus is on embodied spirituality. In order to fully personify these higher energies we must create a strong, grounded vehicle that is capable of generating increased energy, light and consciousness.
With Mars in Cancer in hard aspect to Pluto in Sagittarius (5/26-28), you can learn to access warrior energy for humanitarian and peaceful causes. Sometimes we have to raise the sword of truth to defend our rights or the rights of others. Let Mars/Pluto empower you to speak the truth in the face of adversity.
The new moon at 5 degrees Gemini 5/27 at 12:06am challenges us to grow intellectually. We often ignore our need for intellectual stimulation, so use this new moon to nurture your mind.
For Sun, Moon and Rising Signs
Aries (March 21-April 20)
You may be feeling restless and impatient with a deep inescapable desire for inner change. Start creating changes at home to make your environment more serene.
Taurus (April 21-May 21)
There is a strong need to connect with like-minded community this month. Is there a class or course that you’ve wanted to take? Doing so will help you emotionally and intellectually.
Gemini (May 22-June 20)
You may be more sensitive than usual. Notice if what you are feeling is coming from you or from those around you. Verify your feelings by checking-in with others.
Cancer (June 21- July 20)
Defending the underdog is your path this month. You’re like the mother bear who’s mellow until someone messes with her cubs. Look for ways to express your “public defender.”
Leo (July 21- Aug 22)
Communication at work, particularly with women, is highlighted this month. Make sure you clean up any messes and that you keep your word, doing what you say you’ll do.
Virgo (Aug. 23- Sept. 22)
Your power this month comes from speaking your truth. You have the ability to be direct and hit the core of an issue. Remember: the truth will set you free.
Libra (Sept. 23- Oct. 22)
Right now self-reflection is key. If possible, arrange to take some sort of retreat where you can sort through your thoughts. It’s time to give yourself some rest and relaxation.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
With the full moon in Scorpio 5/13, you are much more visible than usual. If you need to apply for a new job, promote yourself or ask for help from people in high places, now’s the time.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec 20)
You might not feel as sunny as you’re used to this month; there’s some deep, internal processing going on. Allow yourself to be okay with it, and it will bring new understanding.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan 20)
Feel like you’ve got one foot on the brake and one on the gas? It’s not surprising as your energy is all bottled up. Try to find an artistic outlet to release creative tension.
Aquarius (Jan. 21-Feb. 18)
You’re always changing—but even more so this month, particularly professionally. Flexibility and openness to travel might bring you new opportunities.
Pisces (Feb 19-March 20)
What are you passionate about in your life? Finding your ardent loves will seriously boost your energy. It’s important to include fun in the equation, too.
