Surprised by Passion

By James Jarvis

As the weather begins to heat up, we all long to take a break from the predictable and let passion rule. The stars agree that it’s a great month to begin following your heart instead of your head. Let yourself be guided by what brings you joy, rather than what is merely practical. Do what you love and be surprised where passion takes you.

With Mars (ruler of the power chakra) in Leo (sign of the heart chakra) 6/3-22, the heat is being cranked up on passionate expression. Mars in Leo creates a strong desire to express passion and creativity. Use this transit to discover what you are passionate about and begin to integrate it into your life more fully.

Mars in positive aspect (bi-quintile) to Pluto in Sagittarius 6/5-7 helps you learn how to tap into your warrior energy for humanitarian and peaceful causes. Sometimes you have to raise the sword of truth to defend your rights or the rights of others. Let Mars/Pluto empower you to speak the truth even though it may not be pretty.

The focus with the full Moon at 20 degrees Sagittarius on 6/11 (1:04 p.m.) is on emotional self-expression, heightened idealism and self-nurturing through emphasis on our spiritual quest. Tune into your natural optimism, awe and trust that there is indeed a larger, more inclusive reality that is guiding you. The full moon in Sagittarius asks you to take whatever steps are necessary to be more fully nurtured and inspired by higher Self.

Mercury in Cancer 6/11-28 supports you in speaking honestly about what you are feeling. If you are emotionally ruled, use the natural discriminative qualities of your mind to clarify your emotions and what you are feeling. If you tend to intellectualize, go with your emotional promptings despite your mind’s objections or analysis.

Saturn in Leo opposes Chiron in Aquarius 6/13-27, conjoins Mars in Leo 6/16-20, and squares Jupiter in Scorpio 6/16-29 forming a challenging T-square pattern in the sky (exact: 6/18-22.) The reason that T-squares are so challenging is that they represent power that is under tension. The best way to deal with these transits is to let go of your ego’s attachment to specific outcomes. These transits speak of clashes of ego, will and authority, so letting go or yielding is the appropriate stance to take individually and collectively.

As the Sun enters the sign of Cancer on 6/21 at 7:26am, our task is to create a secure and stable sense of belonging. This could come from joining communities that nurture us or by shifting our awareness of belonging to a greater spiritual family.

With Venus in Gemini from 6/23-7/19, it’s time to make connections with friends and family that haven’t heard from you in a while. If you’ve wanted to connect with someone but have been concerned about what he or she will think or how you might look, then this is a great time to just let your heart do the talking! One way to open your heart is to allow your feelings to originate directly in your heart—stay heart-centered so you can freely respond in the moment rather than censuring with your mind.

As the new Moon at 3º Cancer begins its cycle on 6/25 (11:06am), the focus is on discovering your needs for nurturing. Most of us are better at nurturing others but this month it’s about “nurturing the nurturer.” Is it hard for you to ask for help? Do you look independent so you don’t have to acknowledge your dependence needs? If so, it’s time to open yourself to the nurturing that’s always around you.

For Sun, Moon and Rising Signs

Aries 3/21-4/20
Don’t be surprised if you find yourself being more impatient with others this month. Your emotions are constantly changing and are likely to be on a hair trigger. Make sure you think before “re”-acting.

Taurus 4/21-5/21
You are clearing out old patterns of settling for less or putting your needs aside. Ask yourself: What is that I really want in my life right now? Letting go of old disappointments makes room for you to receive.

Gemini 5/22-6/20
The challenge this month is balancing your intellectual prowess with emotional sensitivity. You have a strong urge to communicate your truth but you will be much more effective if you do it with feeling.

Cancer 6/21-7/20
Are you feeling like you are on an emotional roller coaster, up one day and down the next? Look to see if there are any communications you are withholding. Remember that whatever you resist is likely to persist.

Leo 7/21-8/22
You have an opportunity for greater visibility as a leader in your community. The main requirement for success is a sense of humility. Focusing more on self-less serving and less on self-gratification is the key.

Virgo 8/23-9/22
Even though you’re usually the detail person at work, this month your mind wants to focus on the big picture. Trusting your “gut” now will help you tune into new policies that will move things forward.

Libra 9/23-10/22
You may be longing for more beauty or aesthetics in your life. Use your ability to visualize how things could be to make changes in your environment. Integrating feng-shui techniques will help get you started.

Scorpio 10/22-11/21
Being a champion for the rights of others is your role this month. You have empathy for those who are treated unfairly or unjustly. Look to see how you can make a difference.

Sagittarius 11/ 22-12/20
You’re learning that your authority comes when you connect with inner wisdom. Nothing is gained and much is lost if you ignore this inner voice. Trusting your inner authority brings deep healing and peace.

Capricorn 12/21-1/20
Are you feeling burdened by responsibilities? Are you shouldering more of the “burdens” of life than you should? If so, it’s time to schedule in some time for “re-creation,” and activities that bring you joy.

Aquarius 1/ 21-2/18
You’re learning how to be more authentic in your relationships. If you’ve been operating as the “lone wolf” to protect yourself emotionally, it’s time to let down your guard and let others see the real you.

Pisces 2/19-3/20
That dreamy or visionary quality of yours is enhanced this month. Maybe some of your inner visions are looking for outer expression? Using any form of artistic expression will help you ground your vision.
