The End of an Era

I was so disheartened to read that January’s was Abigail Lewis’ last column in WLT. I looked forward each month to reading her comments on current affairs, and this was my favorite part of the magazine. As soon as I picked up my copy from Whole Foods Market, I would head straight to Abigail’s column, read it and save the rest until I got home. Abigail has done a wonderful job with WLT and will be sorely missed. I will be going through withdrawals without her column! Thank you Abigail, for all your years of hard work.

The Best Things in Life Are Free
Whole Life Times is so good that it has fast become a reference guide for me on many issues and — it looks nice lying around! It is amazing what WLT is accomplishing… it is better than most paid magazines!
—Mark, via email

We would like to take this opportunity to express our humble thanks for the kind & prominent words about us in your December issue (“When You Wish Upon a Spa”). It was such a welcome surprise. We feel WLT is Southern California’s premier periodical for all things healthy, spiritual, politically progressive and environmental. It was the perfect place to gain our first formal recognition.

Body In Balance Health Center & Spa, Manhattan Beach

Oops… seems we were so blissed out after our visit to the Body In Balance Health Center in Manhattan Beach, that we mistakenly reported Colin Walkden as co-owner. While Dr. Nazila Mahgerefteh is the sole owner, Colin Walkden is the spa’s life coach.

New Year…New Resolutions
Happy New Year to you and yours! I would like to invite you to share two of my New Year’s resolutions.

1. To start using sustainable transport NOW. This is the most important step. We are the ones who are showing our communities the way. So get your electric vehicles, your biodiesels, your bicycles and your electric motor scooters, and use them when ever possible.

2. Build local groups toward sustainability by getting your friends, neighbors and co-workers on board. This means informing people about groups like the Sustainable Transport Club, Plug In America, LA BioDiesel Co-op and local bicycle groups like the LA County Bicycle Coalition and Critical Mass. By becoming more involved in community groups, we become the vehicles for implementing change.

Free Subscriptions Still Up For Grabs
I picked up your recent issue the other day on my way to work. The cover is amazing — it’s the reason I grabbed it! I saw several ads in the magazine claiming to offer a free 1-year subscription to WLT, and I wanted to sign up. How do I find this information? Thanks for your help — great magazine!
—Alyce Kalmar, via email

Ed. reply: Thanks for picking us up, Alyce. To get a copy of Whole Life Times delivered free to your mailbox every month for a year, just click on the free subscription banner on wholelife times.com to save a stamp. By popular demand, the offer’s been extended through the end of this month. Do it today.

We inadvertently neglected to list photographer Rebecca Dadson, who shot the picture of Irma Nuñoz in last month’s feature “Environmentalism en Español.” Sorry Rebecca!
