The Green Festival just keeps on growing. And if your holiday plans include shopping, you’ll want it on your itinerary.
This year the festival celebrates a 10-year milestone with more than a million attendees in eight cities. That’s a lot of green.
This unique experience is all about positive solutions in our communities. With renowned authors, actors, visionaries and community leaders; hundreds of green businesses; DIY workshops; live music and local vegan and vegetarian cuisine, there’s a lot to do and talk about. You can even share a brew with friends in the organic beer and wine garden.
“In Mayor Villaraigosa’s ongoing commitment to make Los Angeles one of the world’s Greenest Cities, he is happy to welcome Green Festival to Los Angeles and looks forward to opening the festival on October 29th” writes Romel Pascual, Deputy Mayor of Environment for the mayor.
Twelve stages and pavilions will host more than 200 inspirational and educational speakers and teachers, including Bill McKibben, Dolores Huerta, Amy Goodman, Ed Begley Jr., Tom Hayden, Marianne Williamson, Rachelle Carson, Esai Morales, Hill Harper, Jesse Carmichael of Maroon 5, Rev. Lennox Yearwood and the Hip Hop Caucus, John Perkins, Dr. Rickie Byars-Beckwith and Rev. Michael Beckwith, the Agape International Choir, Starhawk, Mark Hertsgaard, David Korten, Jeffrey Smith, Jodie Evans, David W. Orr and many more.
Spanish language programming will include Latino cooking demonstrations, greening your home and garden, and activities for the whole family at the Green Kid’s Zone.
This is a great place to find everything from green, non-toxic home furnishings to organic clothing to Fair Trade gifts, children’s toys and much more. The holidays are coming, so if shopping is on your list, you’ll find tons here that is in line with your values and supports local businesses.
