Anyone who has ever adopted a child can vouch for the multitude of hoops that must be jumped through, but actor Johnny O’Callaghan‘s one-man show about finding his son in Uganda — and himself in the process — succeeds in making this tedious process not just poignant, but also highly entertaining. You’ll laugh, wipe tears and rejoice along with him.
O’Callaghan’s experience can be applied to virtually any life situation, whether adopting a child, contacting an agent, getting a new job, or virtually anything that takes dogged commitment and determination.
Playing at the “off-Broadway” Victory Theatre in Burbank, a charming and comfortable space that is the oldest single-owner small theatre in the LA area, it makes for an enjoyable and inspiring evening, especially for anyone considering adopting a child. Fortunately or not, there are plenty more available to the motivated would-be parent.
* Now extended through March 4!
Weekends only, Victory Theatre, 3326 West Victory Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505, 818.841.5421.
