Columbia University Medical Center docs led the cinnamon study for women with polycystic ovary syndrome, which afflicts between 5–10 percent of women of reproductive age and is one of the most common causes of infertility. Though the study was small, women taking cinnamon supplements had twice the number of menstrual periods—and two spontaneous pregnancies in the group—throughout the six-month study, as compared to women taking a placebo.
